  1. Minton's Playhouse

    The house piano at Minton's on 118th Street from about 1941, with Kenny Clarke on drums. The after-hours sessions there are where bebop was worked out.

  2. The Blue Note sessions

    Recorded for Blue Note from October 1947 to 1952: Round Midnight, Ruby, My Dear, Well, You Needn't, Misterioso, Epistrophy.

  3. The Five Spot

    July to December 1957 at the Five Spot Café on the Bowery, with John Coltrane, Wilbur Ware and Shadow Wilson.

  4. The quartet with Charlie Rouse

    From 1959 to 1970, with Charlie Rouse on tenor: the Columbia records and the tours of Europe and Japan.
