Debut Records and the night at Massey Hall
In 1952 Mingus and Max Roach founded Debut Records, so that musicians could record what they wanted and own it.
Toronto, May 1953
At Massey Hall they played with Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Bud Powell. It was the only time the five played together. Mingus took the tapes, touched up his bass, and Debut put the concert out.
